
A 31-year-old resident of the Lviv region was detained by law enforcement officers on the way to Lviv while transporting weapons and ammunition. This was reported by the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, the man is originally from the Kamianka-Buzka district and is temporarily residing in Lviv. After receiving operational information about the possible movement of weapons, he was stopped and searched.
The detainee was found to be carrying a Kalashnikov rifle, four magazines and 78 rounds of ammunition for automatic weapons.
Under the procedural guidance of the Halytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office of Lviv, the man has been notified of suspicion of illegal handling of weapons and ammunition under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by Police Department No. 1 of Lviv District Police Directorate No. 1 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region. Investigators are establishing the origin of the weapons and ammunition, as well as the possible involvement of the suspect in the sale of weapons.
The Prosecutor’s Office reminds that, in accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime until their guilt is proven in the manner prescribed by law and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
