In Lviv region, 38-year-old man served with suspicion over 40 g of clephedrone

In Novyi Rozdil, a 38-year-old resident of the district has been served with a notice of suspicion of unlawful acquisition and possession with intent to sell an especially dangerous psychotropic substance in an especially large quantity. This was reported under the procedural guidance of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the investigation, in July this year the man acquired the psychotropic substance “clephedrone” and kept it at his home in Novyi Rozdil for further sale. On the basis of an investigative judge’s ruling, law enforcement officers carried out a search at his place of residence.

During the investigative action, police officers found and seized more than 40 g of clephedrone. The estimated value of the seized psychotropic substance on the black market is around UAH 250,000. This concerns one of the so-called “new drugs” — a synthetic psychostimulant that rapidly leads to dependency and can cause serious health disorders.

The man was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. At the request of the prosecution, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of remand in custody. The legal classification of his actions has been determined under Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of Police Department No. 2 of the Stryi District Police Department of the National Police Headquarters in Lviv region; investigative actions are ongoing and all the circumstances are being established. Pursuant to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime until their guilt is proven in the manner prescribed by law and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
