
In one of the villages of the Sheptytskyi district in the Lviv region, police officers swiftly located and returned to its owner a stolen Honda DIO scooter. The incident was reported by the Sheptytskyi District Police Department.
As law enforcement officers established, late in the evening of 14 July, the perpetrator secretly entered the property of a 48-year-old local resident, unlawfully took possession of the Honda DIO scooter and fled. On discovering the vehicle was missing, the owner turned to the police for assistance.
To solve the crime, officers from the criminal police, investigators and staff of other units of Police Station No.2 of the Sheptytskyi District Police Department were involved. As a result of the measures carried out, law enforcement officers quickly found the stolen scooter and detained, under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, a 36-year-old resident of the village involved in committing the crime.
Under the procedural guidance of the Sheptytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office, investigators of the territorial police unit notified the detainee that he is suspected of committing a criminal offence under Part 2 of Article 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unlawful seizure of a vehicle).
The sanction of this article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of five to eight years, with or without confiscation of property. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
