In Drohobych district, a 32-year-old resident is accused of selling drugs onto the premises of a correctional colony. Prosecutors from the Drohobych District Prosecutor’s Office have sent the indictment to court.
According to the investigation, the man had previously been convicted of burglary involving unlawful entry into a home and was released in June 2024. While serving his sentence, he met one of his future accomplices and, just three months after his release, reached an agreement with him and another associate on the supply of drugs to the colony.
Case files relating to the other participants in this activity have been separated into individual criminal proceedings, which are already being considered in court.
The investigation established that during November–December 2024 the accused delivered buprenorphine to the fence of the correctional colony on three occasions and, using a slingshot, launched packets into its secured area. Each time, the drugs were discovered by staff of the institution.
In addition, arrangements were made for the shipment of cannabis from Zakarpattia region. The parcel was collected at a post office branch in Drohobych district for further distribution to places of detention. Ultimately, the man’s unlawful activities were halted by law enforcement officers.
He is charged with the unlawful acquisition and possession of narcotic drugs with intent to supply, as well as their unlawful supply to places of detention, committed by a group of persons acting in prior conspiracy (Part 2, Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the investigative division of the police department of Drohobych District Police Administration of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region.
Under Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and may not be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt has been proven in accordance with the law and established by a guilty verdict of a court.
