In Sambir district, police officers detained a 34-year-old local resident suspected of purchasing, possessing and selling the narcotic drug cannabis to drug-dependent residents of the district.
According to the investigation, the man illegally purchased and possessed cannabis, and also sold it to clients “hand to hand”. Law enforcement officers documented several episodes of purchase, possession and sale of the narcotic drug.
The offender was exposed by criminal police operatives, investigators and employees of other services of Police Station No.1 of the Sambir District Police Department under the procedural guidance of the Sambir District Prosecutor’s Office. The man was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
During a court-authorised search at his place of residence, police officers discovered and seized cannabis and other physical evidence which, according to the investigation, confirms the detainee’s involvement in unlawful activity.
The suspect has been notified of suspicion of committing criminal offences under Part 1 and Part 2 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal production, manufacture, purchase, possession, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues). The article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
