In the Stryi district a man sentenced to 3 years in prison for evading mobilisation

In the Stryi district, a 29-year-old local resident was sentenced to 3 years’ imprisonment for evading conscription for military service during mobilisation. This was reported by the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office.

In court, prosecutors proved that in June 2024 the man underwent a military medical commission, the results of which found him fit for military service. On the same day, he was served with a call-up notice for deployment to a military unit.

However, the reservist refused to sign the call-up notice and failed to appear at the TCC and SP at the appointed time, thereby, in the court’s view, evading conscription for military service during mobilisation. The man’s actions were classified under Article 336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

During the trial, the defendant did not admit his guilt. He explained his refusal to serve by reference to his religious beliefs and claimed that he had not undergone a military medical commission, but these arguments were refuted by the evidence examined by the court.

The court’s verdict will enter into legal force after the expiry of the time limit for lodging an appeal.
