Cyclist killed in collision with car on Lviv–Lutsk highway

On the “Lviv–Lutsk” motorway near the village of Silets in the Sheptytskyi district, a fatal road traffic collision involving a car and a bicycle occurred. The Lviv region police reported this.

The crash happened on 10 June at around 22:25. According to preliminary police information, a Skoda Octavia driven by a 60-year-old resident of the Sheptytskyi district collided with a bicycle ridden by a 61-year-old resident of the same district.

As a result of the injuries sustained, the cyclist died at the scene.

Investigators from the transport crime investigation unit of the Lviv region police, under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, have opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of road safety rules or vehicle operation by persons driving vehicles).

The sanction under this article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of three to eight years, with a possible driving ban of up to three years or without such a ban. Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
