A 56-year-old DAF lorry driver has been killed in a road traffic collision in the Zolochiv district. The Lviv Regional Police reported the incident.
The crash occurred on 23 May at around 17:00 on the Ternopil–Rava-Ruska highway near the village of Pluhiv in Zolochiv district.
According to preliminary police findings, the lorry driver, a resident of Ternopil region, lost control of the vehicle, left the carriageway and drove into an embankment. The vehicle then caught fire.
The man died at the scene.
Investigators from the Zolochiv District Police Department have opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of road traffic safety rules or the operation of transport by persons driving vehicles. Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the collision.
