In Zolochiv district, following a claim by the Zolochiv District Prosecutor’s Office, the court has ordered that work be organised to establish the boundaries of the local nature monument “Kuziarina Hill”. This concerns a 4-hectare site located outside the village of Pidlyptsi in Zolochiv district.
The monument is of conservation importance due to its meadow-steppe vegetation. Six plant species listed in the Red Data Book of Ukraine grow within its territory, as well as five regionally rare species.
In addition, a Red Data Book butterfly, the swallowtail, has been recorded here, along with nesting sites of the corncrake, which is under international protection.
It was established that since 2021 the relevant town council had not taken measures to identify and mark the boundaries of the monument directly on the ground. According to the prosecutor’s office, this created risks of the unlawful transfer of land from the nature reserve fund into private ownership.
The identified violations formed the basis for the prosecutor’s office to apply to the court. The court agreed with the prosecutors’ arguments and fully upheld the claim. Once the decision enters into legal force, the prosecutor’s office will take measures to ensure its enforcement.
