Passenger Traffic in Lviv Region Increased by 25% Over the Weekend

With the start of the summer season, passenger traffic through checkpoints in the Lviv region has significantly increased.

In comparison to the annual average, traffic has already risen by 25%, with expectations to reach a 40% increase in the coming weeks.

Over just the weekend, Saturday and Sunday, nearly 102,000 citizens and more than 19,000 vehicles crossed the state border in the Lviv region. The busiest crossings were observed at the checkpoints of ‘Shehyni’ and ‘Krakovets’.

In ‘Shehyni’, the situation is complicated by large-scale reconstruction on the Ukrainian side: dismantling of the old road surface and laying of new engineering networks are underway. This slows down the movement of both passenger and freight vehicles. Repair works are also taking place at the adjacent Polish checkpoint ‘Medyka’.

For those looking to avoid traffic jams, it is worth considering the less busy checkpoints – ‘Hrushev’, ‘Ugryniv’, ‘Rava-Ruska’.

The least load is observed at ‘Nyzhankovychi’ and ‘Smilnytsia’. These checkpoints will be a convenient option for travelers who wish to avoid wasting time on the road.

Plan your route in advance and regularly check the border situation through the official resources of the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine-Western Border and the 7th Karpaty Border Detachment.

In response to increased loads at checkpoints, border guards of the 7th Karpaty Border Detachment are deploying additional patrols during peak periods, as well as constantly employing modern digital services and actively expanding international cooperation to enhance efficiency and comfort during border crossings.
