
In the town of Brody, Zolochiv district, a fire broke out in a flat on the third floor of a three-storey residential building on Kotsiubynskoho Street. On 9 October at 15:00, firefighters were alerted to the blaze.
When the crews arrived at the scene, flames were pouring from the flat’s windows. Emergency workers immediately began extinguishing the fire and evacuating residents. From the smoke-filled dwelling they carried out a man born in 1960, who had been poisoned by combustion products. He was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
From the neighbouring flat, firefighters led a woman to safety. Together with police officers, they evacuated a total of five people from the building.
The fire, which covered an area of around 45 sq. m, was extinguished at 16:02. Firefighters from the 10th State Fire and Rescue Unit of the town of Brody and the local fire brigade were involved in tackling the blaze.
Specialists are establishing the causes and circumstances of the fire.
