Man in Horodok to stand trial for illegal possession of weapons and domestic violence

A 60-year-old resident of Horodok has been charged with illegal possession of weapons and ammunition, as well as committing domestic violence. This was reported by the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

On 20 May, the emergency line 102 received a report about a man who was committing violence against his relatives. When they arrived at the scene, law enforcement officers established that he was keeping weapons and ammunition in his home.

An investigative team, forensic specialists from the territorial police unit and explosive ordnance experts of the Lviv region police worked at the scene. In the house, they found 2 F-1 grenades, a pistol, a rifled shotgun, almost 600 rounds of various calibres, a sight and other equipment.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) has been completed, and the indictment has been sent to court. The accused faces a sentence of up to seven years’ imprisonment.

In addition, an administrative report was drawn up against the man under Part 1 of Article 173-2 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences (commission of domestic violence), which provides for a fine, community service or administrative arrest for up to ten days.
