In Lviv, fires broke out at several waste container sites overnight, raising suspicions of arson. Waste carriers are contacting the police to determine the causes of the fires.
Specifically, a site on Shevchenka Street, 77, serviced by LLC “Grinera”, as well as sites on Levandivska Street, 23 and Yatskova Street, 7, serviced by LKP “Lvivspetskomuntrans”, were affected. The fires were extinguished by the State Emergency Service, and no passers-by were injured.
At the site on Yatskova Street, 7, a mixed waste container was burnt, while on Levandivska Street, 23, an organic waste container and a “bell” container for plastic were destroyed. The preliminary damage is estimated at approximately 35,000 UAH.
LKP “Lvivspetskomuntrans” urges residents to report smoke or flames by calling 101. It is also emphasised that hazardous waste, such as lamps, batteries, accumulators, mercury thermometers, oils, and cigarette butts, should not be disposed of in the containers.
According to the Railway District Administration, one of the fires damaged a parked car. Residents are reminded of the need to adhere to traffic regulations, particularly parking at a safe distance from container sites.
