A 23-year-old resident from Lviv, extradited from Germany for organizing drug distribution, is set to stand trial in Lviv.
Through international cooperation, the young man, who had orchestrated a drug distribution scheme in the Lviv region and evaded investigation abroad, was extradited from the Federal Republic of Germany to face criminal charges in Ukraine.
Investigators from the division for investigating especially serious crimes of the Lviv Police, along with operatives from the Department of Strategic Investigations of the Lviv region, determined that in 2021–2022, the suspect was involved in acquiring, packaging, and distributing cannabis and amphetamine. He sold the narcotics to drug-dependent individuals through drop-offs or couriers, as well as directly hand-to-hand. In his criminal activities, the man used anonymous messengers, receiving payments via bank transfers.
During the pre-trial investigation, the offender left Ukraine and settled in Germany in an attempt to avoid prosecution. However, thanks to international cooperation, law enforcement achieved the suspect’s extradition.
The pre-trial investigation, overseen by the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, within the criminal proceedings opened under part 2 of article 309 (Illegal acquisition, storage, transportation, or sending of narcotic drugs without intent to sell) and part 2 of article 307 (Illegal production, storage, transport, forwarding, or sale of narcotics or psychotropic substances) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, has been completed. The indictment has been sent to court for consideration. For the committed offenses, the accused faces up to 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
