Postal service operator in Lviv to stand trial for trafficking psychotropic substances

In Lviv, an indictment has been submitted to court against a 27-year-old Lviv resident who worked as a postal service operator and who, according to the investigation, purchased a wholesale batch of psychotropic substances for subsequent sale. This was reported by the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Lviv.

The investigation established that the man ordered a wholesale batch of psychotropic substances via Telegram and received the coordinates of a stash near Kamyanecka Street in Lviv. From the hiding place he collected an already packaged so-called “master cache”, put it in a rucksack and planned to distribute the psychotropic substances through “dead drops” around the city.

Approximately an hour later, the man was stopped by law enforcement officers and detained under the procedure provided for by Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. During the search of the scene, 200 packets containing PVP with a total weight of over 72.5 g were seized, as well as ecstasy tablets and packaged MDMA powder with a total weight of almost 33.4 g.

The Lviv resident is charged with the unlawful purchase and possession for the purpose of sale of particularly dangerous psychotropic substances in particularly large quantities, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy (Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of Police Department No. 2 of Lviv District Police Department No. 2 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.

Pursuant to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person shall be presumed innocent of committing a crime until his or her guilt is proved in the manner prescribed by law and established by a guilty verdict of a court.
