Two drug “stashers” of psychotropic substances detained in Lviv

In Lviv, law enforcement officers detained two young men aged 19 and 20 who, according to the investigation, were involved in the sale of psychotropic substances as “stashers” for an online shop.

According to the investigation, both are residents of Lviv and were cooperating with a specialised online shop. They received wholesale consignments of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in the form of so-called “master stashes”, after which they distributed them by making “drops” around the city. The older of the suspects is also wanted on suspicion of theft and other offences.

On 22 July, both men were detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine on Chornobaivska Street in Lviv. They were carrying 75 “drops” containing the psychotropic substances PVP and MDMA. All seized substances were sent for expert examination.

The operational measures were carried out by officers of the Lviv Region Police Drug Crime Unit together with investigators from Police Division No.1 of Lviv District Police Department No.2. Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural guidance of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office, served the detainees with a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues). The maximum penalty under this article is up to twelve years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. The court has chosen to remand the suspects in custody without the possibility of bail, the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported.
