
In Lviv, police swiftly detained suspects believed to have mugged a pedestrian.
We remind you that under martial law, maximum penalties are imposed for theft, robbery, assault, extortion, and a number of other crimes.
On February 13, police received a report that around 8:30 at the intersection of Chernivetska and Horodotska streets, unknown individuals snatched a purse from the hands of a pedestrian – a 45-year-old Lviv resident, and fled. The purse contained cash totaling 60,000 hryvnias, a tablet, and documents.
Operatives from the criminal police, investigators, and officers from other departments of police station No.1 of Lviv district police department No.2, as well as employees from the criminal analysis department of Lviv police, were involved in solving the crime.
Through conducted measures and reviewing footage from the ‘Safe Lviv’ surveillance system, police promptly identified the location of the suspects and detained them under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The identities of the detainees have been established – a 24-year-old resident of the Lviv district and a 22-year-old resident of Zakarpattia. Material evidence was seized from them.
Based on the facts, investigators from the territorial police unit, under the procedural guidance of the Frankivsk district prosecutor’s office, initiated criminal proceedings under Part 4 of Article 186 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for imprisonment from seven to ten years. Pre-trial investigations are ongoing.
