A local resident in Slavs’ke village has been detained on suspicion of murdering his cohabitant and attempting to murder a neighbor.
According to the investigation, a 22-year-old man in a state of alcohol intoxication, after a night of drinking with his cohabitant, went to the 68-year-old neighbor. The guest asked for permission to rest there, but soon returned to the host’s room. There, he took a knife from the table and struck the homeowner in the head.
When the knife fell, he grabbed another one and continued to strike with it, and when the second knife fell, he took a third one. After the act, he dragged the unconscious man into the corridor and continued to beat him with a metallic level found in the premises. The strikes were so forceful that the level bent. When the attacker thought the victim was not breathing, he went home.
On the way to his home, the man consumed alcohol again. Upon arriving, he distracted his cohabitant with conversations, and when the woman approached, he knocked her to the floor. He then took a knife from his pocket, taken from the kitchen, and stabbed the woman in the neck several times. The 43-year-old victim died on the spot, and the attacker fled the house.
The injured neighbor, upon regaining consciousness, was able to call for help. Residents of the nearby house heard him and called the police and medics. He is currently in intensive care.
After murdering his cohabitant, the attacker disposed of the knife by throwing it nearby his home and attempted to hide. However, law enforcement found and detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Under the procedural guidance of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office, he has been charged with an attempted murder and premeditated murder (Part 2 of Article 15 – Part 1 of Article 115, clause 13 of Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The prosecution will demand the strictest preventive measure for the suspect, detention without the right to bail.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by Police Station No. 3 of the Stryi District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv Region.
