
In the Lviv region, police have detained a woman suspected of arson at an enterprise.
On the night of June 9, a large fire broke out on the premises of a private business in one of the cities in the Sheptytskyi district. After an investigation, experts determined that the fire was caused by deliberate arson. To solve the crime, criminal police operatives, investigators, and employees from other services of police department No. 2 of the Sheptytskyi district police department were involved, as well as detectives from the criminal investigation and staff from the Lviv region’s Criminal Analysis Department.
By studying footage from the ‘Safe Lviv’ video surveillance system, police quickly identified the suspect. She turned out to be a 35-year-old resident of one of the district’s villages. At night, the woman brought flammable substances to the walls of the warehouse, set them on fire, and fled.
The fire partially destroyed the warehouse with finished products, utility rooms, the boiler room, and other enterprise properties. Law enforcement officers detained the suspect under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators, with the procedural guidance of the Sheptytskyi district prosecutor’s office, informed her of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — intentional destruction or damage of property. The sanction of this article provides for up to ten years of imprisonment.
Pretrial investigation is ongoing. The court will soon decide on the suspect’s pretrial measure.
