Firefighters Rescue Man from Fire in Lviv

In the early hours of 19th March, a fire broke out in a nine-storey building on Zolota Street in Lviv. Thanks to the swift response of a neighbour who smelled smoke and called the emergency services, tragic consequences were avoided. When the firefighters arrived on the scene, flames were pouring from the windows and the stairwell was filled with dense smoke, reported the Lviv State Emergency Service.

While inspecting the flat, firefighters found a man who was unable to exit on his own. He was promptly brought out into fresh air and handed over to the medics. Three people from neighbouring flats were also evacuated.

The fire, which engulfed household items over an area of 6 sq.m, injured the resident born in 1960. The man, suffering from burns, was hospitalised at St. Luke’s Hospital of the First Territorial Medical Association of Lviv. The fire was localised at 04:10 and completely extinguished by 04:12.
