A Lviv resident, along with his mother, organized the cultivation of cannabis for sale.
According to the investigation, a 48-year-old resident of Lviv and his 77-year-old mother were growing cannabis for subsequent sale. They set up several premises on the grounds of the mother’s household in a village within the Novoyarychiv settlement community. The cannabis was grown both in the house and in the outbuildings.
During the son’s absence, the woman took care of the plants herself: maintaining the microclimate, watering, and fertilizing. The man regularly visited his mother, where he harvested, packaged the cannabis, and transported it to Lviv. There, he sold the drug for cash upon meetings.
During searches on the household premises and in the man’s vehicle, cannabis plants were seized, likely a large amount of plant-based narcotic substance, special equipment, money, and other evidence of illegal activity.
Under the procedural guidance of the Halytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office of Lviv city, the mother and son were charged with illegal acquisition, storage, transportation, possession for the purpose of selling narcotic substances, as well as illegal planting and cultivation of cannabis (Part 2 of Article 307, Part 2 of Article 310 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Investigative actions are ongoing, with other persons involved in the illegal activities being identified. A series of expert examinations has been appointed.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt has been proven in a legal manner and established by a court’s convicting verdict.
