In the Lviv region, law enforcement officers have detained a suspect in the unlawful possession of a car. The detainee faces a penalty of imprisonment for up to five years, and the stolen vehicle has been seized and placed in a secure compound.
On 27th April, a 58-year-old resident of a village in the Sheptytskyi district reported the disappearance of her VAZ-21099 car, which was near her house, to the police. Operatives of the criminal police, investigators, patrol and local police officers were involved in the investigation.
During operational activities, law enforcement officers found the stolen car and detained a 24-year-old resident of the Sheptytskyi district suspected of the crime, pursuant to Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. A criminal case has been opened under part 1 of Article 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for imprisonment for a term of three to five years or confinement. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
