In Lviv, work is under way to upgrade Kulparkivskyi Square, located on Yevhena Konovaltsia Street near the terminus of tram No. 2. The pedestrian paths are being relaid, and a comprehensive renewal of the public space is planned next. All the works are being carried out at the expense of the investor-developer, who is implementing their project in the Frankivskyi district and cooperating with the city within the framework of a socio-economic partnership.
According to the Deputy Mayor for Urban Planning, Liubomyr Zubach, the concept for the development of the green area was prepared by the Department of Architecture and Spatial Development of the Lviv City Council. The project is aimed at creating a comfortable and accessible space with minimal intervention in the square’s natural environment.
At present, new pedestrian paths are being laid in the square, taking into account the principles of accessibility. The next stages will include upgrading the children’s playground, installing new lighting, placing park furniture and arranging health trails for residents’ active recreation. There are also plans to designate a special area for dog walking.
“We are gradually renewing public spaces in different parts of the city, involving socially responsible businesses in this process. In Kulparkivskyi Square, we have already started arranging new pedestrian paths, taking into account the principles of accessibility. The next stages will be the renewal of the children’s playground, lighting, the installation of new park furniture and the arrangement of health trails for residents’ active recreation,” said Liubomyr Zubach.
Before starting work to improve the area, one temporary kiosk was dismantled from the square, which made it possible to open up the space and organise it better for visitors. Earlier, the Frankivskyi District Administration reported that, before the start of the reconstruction, the greenery here had been inspected and 14 dangerous trees had been identified, some of which were affected by fungi and root rot or were drying out.
