In Zashkiv, work has been completed on laying a new water main along a section of O. Marmash Street. Here, the old networks have been replaced and seven underground fire hydrants installed, which should improve the water supply and increase safety in the event of a fire.
The need to upgrade the networks in Zashkiv was among the most pressing issues for the local community, as the water supply system had not been replaced since 1960. Due to the lack of major repairs over many years, the pipes were in poor condition, leading to frequent bursts.
According to the head of the Office for Agglomeration and Community Development, Nataliia Alieksieieva, with the support of this office, Lviv Municipal Utility Company “Lvivvodokanal” first reviewed and took over the water supply networks in Zashkiv. Most residents have already signed official contracts and pay for the services. Every Monday, a representative of “Lvivvodokanal” holds consultations at the Lviv Community Office in Zashkiv, where billing is adjusted and new agreements are concluded. This has given the city the legal opportunity to carry out major repairs of the water supply networks.
The first repair works were launched by “Lvivvodokanal” in May. During this period, a new section of water main with a length of 1032 metres was laid in Zashkiv and 7 underground fire hydrants were installed. The new equipment will ensure a more stable water supply, and in the event of a fire, rescuers will be able to gain faster access to the required amount of water.
