A fire occurred on Volodymyr Velykyi Street in Lviv, which could have escalated into a major tragedy. The incident was caused by an electric bicycle battery. On 10 March at 19:29, firefighters received a report of a fire on the sixth floor of a nine-storey building.
The fire, which started due to the battery, quickly spread to household items. The apartment owners promptly closed the doors, limiting the air supply and preventing the fire from spreading before the firefighters arrived. The fire was localised at 19:47 and extinguished by 19:50.
To extinguish the fire, 10 firefighters and 3 units of special equipment were deployed. Firefighters emphasise the importance of careful handling of lithium-ion batteries:
- Do not leave gadgets charging unattended, especially overnight.
- Avoid overheating and using damaged batteries.
- Always keep a working fire extinguisher nearby.
Take care of yourself and your property, as safety begins with responsibility.
