Humanitarian aid in the form of fodder and certificates for the purchase of inventory covered 42 communities of the Lviv region.
The Lviv office of the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in cooperation with the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of the Lviv Oblast and the Lviv Chamber of Agriculture implemented the project: “Emergency food security and provision of means of livelihood for people affected by the war in the Lviv region.”
Within the scope of this project, FAO provided humanitarian assistance to socially vulnerable sections of the population in the communities of Lviv region, in particular, where IDPs live. So, 2,156 families living in villages from 11 communities, where agricultural products are one of the main sources of income, received certificates worth 12,000 hryvnias each. They are intended for the purchase of inventory and necessary means for the production of agricultural products. The total amount will be UAH 25.8 million.
FAO also provided 1,002 vulnerable rural families from 31 territorial communities of Lviv region with sets of fodder and vitamin supplements for farm animals. The total volume of feed distributed is 234.5 tons for the total amount of UAH 3.7 million. The list of persons who needed help and met the FAO vulnerability criteria and were direct recipients of humanitarian aid was provided by the territorial communities of the Lviv region.
“Since the beginning of the war, FAO has expanded and expanded its activities. In addition to the implementation of development projects for agricultural producers, FAO was one of the first to start an active humanitarian mission in the territory to provide agricultural aid and ensure food security of the people most affected by the full-scale war”, – emphasized the director of the department of agro-industrial development of Lviv OVA Tetyana Hetman.
