This year, Lviv is set to establish 200 additional accessible entrances in various districts of the city, as reported by the Lviv City Council. The project is funded by the Icelandic foundation Ramp Up, which has already supported accessibility works last year.
Last year, these initiatives were carried out in the Halytskyi, Frankivskyi and Lychakivskyi districts of the city. A total of 58 accessible entrances were established. This year, the plans cover all districts, including Rynok, Sichovykh Striltsiv and Doroshenka streets.
According to representatives from the Department of Architecture and Spatial Development of the LCC, special attention is being given to locations with a high concentration of public institutions. This will not only ensure the accessibility of individual facilities but will also have a comprehensive impact on the entire street.
The Icelandic fund Ramp Up has agreed to continue financing the establishment of accessible entrances in Lviv, which includes work on locations with large foot traffic — the Department of Architecture and Spatial Development of the LCC
According to the agreement made following the Lviv mayor’s working visit to the partner city of Reykjavik, the project will continue to receive funding, particularly from the Unbroken fund.
