Five Orphaned Children in Lviv Receive Apartments from the City

One orphan and four children deprived of parental care have become homeowners in Lviv. The apartments were purchased under the city’s co-financing program with the support of the Lviv City Council, guardians, and charitable organizations. Mayor Andriy Sadovyi personally handed over the keys and certificates during a formal ceremony.

Funding Details

The project was funded with 4.9 million UAH from the city budget and 3.1 million UAH contributed by guardians and donors. The acquired housing includes:

  • Two one-room apartments;
  • Three two-room apartments.

Voices from the Event

“For me, it’s an honor to give these young people, who grew up without parents, a chance for a better future. Every year, we allocate funds for such initiatives, and I’m grateful to the donors who make this possible,” said Mayor Andriy Sadovyi.

Lilia, a 21-year-old recipient, shared her joy:
“It’s amazing to have my own place now. I no longer have to worry about rent or income. It’s a dream that could have taken years to achieve.”

Marta Hrytsyk, operational director of the “Ridni” Foundation, emphasized:
“We have supported Lilia for years, so helping her secure her own home was a natural step. Supporting orphans is a core mission of our foundation.”

Program Overview

Since its launch in 2016, Lviv’s co-financing program has facilitated the purchase of 45 apartments for orphans and children deprived of parental care. The funding model covers 70% of housing costs from the city budget, with the remaining 30% provided by guardians or donors.
