In Stryi, the authorities have appealed to residents of surrounding villages, asking them not to bring bulky waste to the city’s container sites, as this is placing critical pressure on the waste removal system.
In the city of Stryi, the removal of solid household waste is provided by the company «Hrinera Stryi», while in the villages of the community this is handled by FOP Koleha. Accordingly, each company plans the volume of work and costs and sets tariffs for its own service area.
According to Hrinera, the problem of unauthorised dumping of rubbish from villages is particularly acute at the container sites on Haidamatska and Dobriulianska streets. Every day in Stryi, two crews collect waste from containers, as well as several lorries with grab cranes that pick up bulky waste.
For example, almost 5 thousand kg of rubbish is removed from the site on Haidamatska Street in a single trip, and within a few hours, several thousand kilograms of new waste appear there. It is noted that residents of this city neighbourhood physically cannot produce such an amount of waste in such a short time.
The company stresses that, as a result, it is impossible to maintain proper order and losses are increasing, since they have to deploy machinery for waste removal far more frequently. Village residents are asked to dispose of their waste, particularly bulky waste, within their own localities, where a waste disposal company also operates and provides regular services.
