Specialists from the Lviv Oncology Centre have completed the treatment of a complex case of recurrent thyroid cancer in a patient from Khmelnytskyi region. This case is remarkable because, despite several surgeries in 2025, the disease could not be fully brought under control. During diagnostics, residual tissue and metastases were detected, so the patient was referred to Lviv.
After additional studies, a decision was made to perform radical surgery, which lasted 6 hours. The operation involved the removal of affected tissues and lymph nodes.
“This is a complex case of recurrent cancer after several previous surgeries. We managed to carry out the radical intervention without complications,” stated the general director of the Lviv Oncology Centre and regional council deputy Oleh Duda.
The patient is currently undergoing recovery, and the next stage of treatment—radioiodine therapy—awaits.
