
Lieutenant Roman Soroka, a 24-year-old resident of Pyatnychany village, Sokolivskyi Starostat, died in the Chernihiv region while performing a combat mission. He sustained a fatal wound incompatible with life. The news was confirmed by Oksana Dovhal, deputy mayor of Bibrka.
Roman began his military service with the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine in January 2020. From 2020 to 2024, he studied at the National Academy of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine named after Bohdan Khmelnytskyi under the “Telecommunications and Radio Engineering” program. Upon graduation on March 25, 2024, he was assigned to military unit 2253.
At the time of his death, Roman held the position of head of communications at the second border outpost of the 105th Border Detachment named after Prince Volodymyr the Great. Faithful to his military oath, he bravely fulfilled his duty in defense of Ukraine’s freedom and independence.
Roman Soroka died on October 17, 2025, at just 24 years of age.
He is survived by his mother and brother. Details regarding the arrival of the Defender’s body and the funeral ceremony will be announced later.
