The Drohobych community gathered to honour the memory of Andriy Valyukh, a resident of the village of Ranevychi, who gave his life for Ukraine’s freedom. The funeral cortege arrived in the city, where at the Heroes’ Crossroads, family, friends, comrades, clergy, and concerned residents gathered. Those present knelt and honoured the warrior’s memory with a joint prayer.
Afterwards, the cortege proceeded to the Hero’s home in the village of Ranevychi, where at 19:00 a parastas will be held. The funeral will take place on Thursday, 23 April, at 12:00, at the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in the village of Ranevychi. The warrior will be buried in the local cemetery.
Andriy Valyukh was born on 14 December 1985 in the village of Ranevychi. He studied at Drohobych School No. 8, trained as a programmer at VPU No. 19, and continued his education at the pedagogical university. He worked in security and spent a long time working abroad. With the onset of the full-scale war, he stood up for Ukraine’s defence, served in a mechanised brigade, and had the call sign “Joker”.
Before his death, the warrior was offered leave, but he refused, not wanting to leave his comrades before an important battle. Unfortunately, this battle was his last – the defender died on 4 April 2026. He is mourned by his mother, son, younger brother, relatives, and friends. The Drohobych community expresses sincere condolences to the family of the fallen defender. Eternal memory and glory to the Hero of Ukraine!
