Drohobych Region Under Missile-Drone Attack: City Council Report

On the night of June 29, the Drohobych region experienced the most massive missile-drone attack since the full-scale war began.

One of the industrial facilities within the city was hit by 21 enemy targets. As a result, six fire centers were created, including a fuel tank with a capacity of 1000 liters, which complicated firefighting efforts. This information was reported by Igor Yuzvyak, the head of the Department of Emergency Situations and Civil Protection, at an operational meeting with the mayor and management today, June 30. Drohobych City Council

To mitigate the consequences of the emergency, up to 250 personnel from the State Emergency Service were involved, 47 specialized equipment units from various regions, and 150 representatives from law enforcement agencies. There were no casualties from the attack. During the attack, the mobile fire groups of the volunteer territorial community formation once again went through a baptism of fire. The volunteers operated under combat orders from the Armed Forces Command, carrying out tasks to protect and defend the sky over Drohobych.

The work was significantly complicated by weather conditions and limited visibility due to dense cloud cover. At 7:00 a.m., a commission on Environmental Safety and Emergency Situations began its work, giving top-priority instructions for eliminating the aftermath of the shelling. The city’s material reserve allocated 1000 liters of diesel fuel and 1000 liters of gasoline. The Health Department, in conjunction with the Investment and Economic Development Department, ensured the delivery of drinking water for the needs of the services involved.

Law enforcement agencies ensured the blocking of access to the affected area, maintained order in the city, and patrolled the streets to identify possible additional damages. At the mayor’s directive, medical teams inspected the streets near the epicenter of the events to monitor the residents’ health status.

*The shelling affected residential areas—over 50 windows in six apartment buildings were shattered.*

Four teams were formed by public utilities, quickly arriving to carry out emergency restoration work.

*The attack caused power outages in parts of the city.*

Specifically, third-level pumping stations, crucial for supplying water to the upper floors of apartment buildings, were shut down. As of 10:00 a.m. on June 29, power was restored to 15 stations.

*By the afternoon of the same day, all facilities were operating as usual.*

If necessary, the water utility was prepared with water tankers to supply water to residents.

*Drohobych City Hospital No. 1 operated on a generator, with patients experiencing no interruptions.*

According to the environmental monitoring results as of 10:00 p.m., no exceedances of the maximum permissible concentration of sulfur dioxide were detected. Community residents also reported instances of shelters being inaccessible in educational institutions.
