
The Lopatyn territorial community is mourning two painful losses. Residents are saying their final goodbyes to servicemen Andrii Hadzhemura from the village of Zahatka and Hryhorii Muryn from Berezivka, who defended Ukraine’s freedom and independence.
Andrii Hadzhemura Lost His Life in the Sumy Region
Andrii Mykolaiovych Hadzhemura was born on February 16, 1996, in the village of Zahatka, where he spent his childhood and school years.
He was a diligent and determined student. After successfully completing school, he graduated with honours from Lutsk National Technical University.
From 2019 to 2020, Andrii completed his compulsory military service in Dnipro, where he trained as a digital communications specialist.
In civilian life, he worked in Kyiv as an IT specialist in telecommunications networks. His relatives and friends remembered him as a kind, sincere and cheerful person who was always ready to help others.
Andrii was interested in science and science fiction, enjoyed board games and owned an extensive collection of books.
On February 10, 2026, he was called up to the Defence Forces of Ukraine by the Pechersk District Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centre in Kyiv.
Andrii served with the 71st Separate Airmobile Brigade as a radio telephone mechanic in the command squad of the reconnaissance company’s command platoon.
On July 7, 2026, Andrii Hadzhemura lost his life near the settlement of Vorozhba in the Sumy district of the Sumy region. He was 30 years old.
Funeral Procession to Arrive in Zahatka
At 11:00 a.m. on July 17, 2026, the funeral procession carrying the defender’s body was scheduled to depart from Radekhiv for his native village of Zahatka.
Residents of the Lopatyn community were asked to form a human corridor of honour along the procession’s route and respectfully welcome the fallen serviceman home.
Hryhorii Muryn Served in a Reconnaissance Company
Hryhorii Dmytrovych Muryn was born on October 1, 1980. He graduated from Berezivka Secondary School and later studied at the Olesko Vocational School.
He completed his compulsory military service in Pryluky. Between 2000 and 2003, he served under contract in Yavoriv, while in 2002–2003 he attended a warrant officers’ school in Berdychiv, Zhytomyr region.
After returning to civilian life, Hryhorii worked for the Halychyna company.
On April 3, 2025, he was called up for military service by the Second Department of the Sheptytskyi District Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centre.
Hryhorii served in military unit A7400. He held the rank of staff sergeant and was a driver in the 2nd reconnaissance squad of the 1st reconnaissance platoon of the reconnaissance company.
On July 5, 2025, the defender lost his life in an FPV drone strike while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Andriivka in the Sumy region.
The serviceman was listed as missing in action for a considerable period. Hryhorii Muryn was officially identified on July 7, 2026.
Farewell to Hryhorii Muryn in Berezivka
The funeral ceremony began on July 16, 2026. At 10:30 a.m., the procession departed from Radekhiv for the village of Berezivka in the Lopatyn territorial community.
Local residents were asked to join the procession and accompany the Ukrainian serviceman on his final journey with dignity and respect.
The memory of Andrii Hadzhemura and Hryhorii Muryn will forever remain in the hearts of their families, friends, fellow soldiers and community members. Their courage, devotion to their country and commitment to defending Ukraine stand as examples of true patriotism.
The Lopatyn Settlement Council and the entire community extend their sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the servicemen and share the pain of these irreparable losses.
