
On Sunday, 22 March, Lviv will bid farewell to Nazariy Rybchych, who died defending Ukraine from Russian occupiers. The city council urges Lviv residents and visitors to join the city farewell ceremony and refrain from entertainment and celebrations at this time, as reported by the Lviv City Council.
In the square near the Garrison Church, people are saying goodbye to the fallen soldier: on both sides, dozens of residents have knelt, some holding bouquets of flowers. In the centre, in front of the coffin, servicemen are marching, carrying large flags of Ukraine and the Armed Forces. The funeral service for the soldier will begin at 12:00 at the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Riasne (15 Lukasevycha Street). Nazariy Rybchych will be buried at the Riasne Cemetery, in the military section.
Nazariy Rybchych (25.10.2003 — 14.03.2026) was a native of Lviv. He studied at Lyceum No. 94 of the Lviv City Council, later at the State Educational Institution ‘Stavropigian Higher Vocational School of Lviv’. He also studied at the Lviv State University of Life Safety. He served his conscription in the Air Assault Forces.
According to his family, Nazariy was passionate about sports, loved reading, cooking, and enjoyed morning runs. He was kind, sincere, always smiling, honest, and fair. In 2025, he stood up to defend his homeland from the invasion of Russian occupiers. He defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine in the Southern Slobozhansky direction as part of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Nazariy Rybchych is survived by his parents, sister, cousins, niece, godparents, two grandmothers, and family.
