He was the first one to be buried by the Velykomostivska community during the full-scale invasion.
The Life Path of Ihor Hupal
Ihor was born in the village of Volytsia in the Lviv region and studied at the local school. From his childhood, he had a knack for music, played the saxophone, and thus pursued education at the Velykomostivska music school. In 2016, he chose a military path and entered the National Army Academy named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny.
On August 24, 2018, he proudly marched in the military parade in Kyiv on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day.
In 2019, Ihor graduated with honors. In February of the same year, he signed a contract with the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo, where he served as a first-category artist of the military orchestra. But the war changed everything – from a musician he became a fighter.
From March to June 2019, he was in the combat zone in Maryinka. In September of the same year, he entered the Rivne State Humanities University to specialize in music art, but the war did not allow him to finish his studies.
In June 2021, Ihor went to the combat zone in Popasna. It was there that the full-scale invasion caught him. On March 30, 2022, during a combat encounter and massive artillery fire, he died… He was only 22 years old.
