
On Monday, 8 June, a city farewell ceremony will be held in Lviv for servicemen Vitalii Ohorinskyi and Denys Voinalovych, who gave their lives defending Ukraine from the Russian occupiers. The city authorities call on Lviv residents and visitors to join the farewell and to refrain at this time from entertainment events and celebrations.
The funeral service for the soldiers will begin at 11:00 at the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. At approximately 11:30 a citywide farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square.
After the ceremony, Vitalii Ohorinskyi will be buried at Holosko Cemetery, in section 34-V, and Denys Voinalovych at Lychakiv Cemetery, in the field of honourable burials No. 87 on Pasichna Street.
Vitalii Ohorinskyi (25.03.1966 — 04.06.2026) was born in the city of Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region. He studied at Kryvyi Rih Gymnasium No. 79 and later qualified as a mechanical technician at the Separate Structural Subdivision “Automotive Vocational College of Kryvyi Rih National University”. He worked as a driver in private companies.
According to his family, Vitalii was sincere, responsible and cheerful, a reliable friend, a loving father and husband. He was passionate about cars and motorbikes, fishing and spending time in nature, and he enjoyed cooking over the barbecue with his loved ones. He was a participant in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO). With the onset of the full-scale invasion, he defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine in the Donetsk sector as part of the 125th Separate Heavy Mechanised Brigade of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Vitalii Ohorinskyi is survived by his daughter and sister.
Denys Voinalovych (01.01.1987 — 13.07.2024) was born in the village of Stanyshivka, Zhytomyr region. He studied at Stanyshivka Lyceum of the Stanyshivka Village Council of Zhytomyr district, and later at the Zhytomyr Military Institute named after Serhii Korolov, where he obtained an education in information technology. He worked in the construction sector in private companies.
His family remember Denys as responsible, inquisitive and persistent, someone who learned quickly and constantly strove for self-development. He loved life, cared deeply for his loved ones, enjoyed reading, was hardworking and helped his grandmother and grandfather with household chores. In 2023 he took up arms to defend Ukraine from the Russian invaders and defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the state in the South Slobozhanskyi sector as part of the 77th Separate Air Assault Naddniprianska Brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Denys Voinalovych is survived by his children, grandmother and family.
