On Saturday, May 9, the Sokal community will meet its Hero — Senior Lieutenant Ihor Romanovych Tsybulia, a resident of the village of Komariv, who died while defending Ukraine.
Schedule of the farewell and burial
Residents of the community are asked to put aside their daily affairs and come to honor the fallen Defender with dignity and accompany him on his final journey.
- 2:30 p.m. — the funeral cortege will arrive in the city of Sokal. A memorial service will be held near the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul.
- 2:50 p.m. — the Hero will be met at the entrance to the village of Komariv. Afterward, a parastas service will be held at Ihor Tsybulia’s family home.
- Sunday, 3:00 p.m. — the funeral rite will begin.
The death of Ihor Tsybulia has become an immense sorrow for his family, native village, the Sokal community, and all of Ukraine. There are no words that can ease the loss of a son for his parents, a grandson for his grandmother, a beloved for his fiancée, and a friend and comrade-in-arms for those who knew him personally.
Life of Ihor Tsybulia
Ihor Romanovych Tsybulia was born on January 3, 1995, in the village of Komariv. He completed primary school in his native village and later studied at the Oleh Romaniv Sokal Gymnasium.
After finishing school, Ihor entered Lutsk National Technical University, where he received higher education. He was later called up for compulsory military service in the airborne troops.
When the full-scale invasion began, Ihor Tsybulia joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Since June 2022, he had been serving in the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo.
Combat path of the Defender
Senior Lieutenant Ihor Tsybulia directly carried out combat missions on some of the most difficult front-line directions. He defended Ukraine in the Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions.
Among the settlements and areas where Ihor fought were:
- Bakhmut;
- Toretsk;
- Chasiv Yar;
- other difficult sections of the front where Ukrainian soldiers held back the enemy.
Awards of Ihor Tsybulia
For courage, patriotism, and devotion to Ukraine, Ihor Tsybulia received honorary awards.
He was awarded:
- the “Chervona Kalyna” badge of the All-Ukrainian Association “We Are Ukrainians”;
- the honorary “Golden Cross” badge of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerii Zaluzhnyi;
- the medal “For the Defense of the City of Bakhmut” from the command of the “Soledar” operational-tactical group.
Even during the hardest moments of the war, Ihor never complained to his loved ones and always reassured them with the words: “I am fine!” In this way, he tried to protect his family from worry.
From the first days of the war, his family also supported Ukraine from the rear. Ihor’s parents joined volunteer work and organized the Hospodyńky community, which united local residents around helping Ukrainian defenders.
The Sokal community extends sincere condolences to his parents, Nataliia and Roman, his brother Stepan, grandmother Kateryna, fiancée Nataliia, aunt Iryna, his entire large family, comrades-in-arms, classmates, friends, and fellow villagers.
