Ukraine and Poland prepare to launch the “Oasis of Renewal” project for veterans

Ukraine and Poland are moving closer to launching their joint project to support veterans, “Oasis of Renewal”, which is intended to advance the development of palliative care for Ukrainian Defenders, both men and women.

During a working visit to Warsaw, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister for Veterans Affairs Ruslan Prykhodko held a meeting with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Development and Technology of the Republic of Poland Michał Jaros. The talks took place at the Ministry of Development and Technology with the participation of the First Secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine in Poland, Mykola Hranovskyi, and the Chief of Staff of the Lviv Regional Military Administration Taras Hren.

The parties focused on the further implementation of the Ukrainian-Polish project “Oasis of Renewal”, which is expected to become an example of practical partnership in the field of veterans’ policy, recovery and specialised support for veterans. They discussed the current state of preparations, procedural and legal aspects of cooperation, possible formats for signing agreements, and coordination between Ukrainian and Polish institutions.

They agreed to explore the possibility of signing a document on further cooperation within the framework of the project during the Ukraine Recovery Conference, an international conference on Ukraine’s reconstruction. This year, Poland has earmarked around 60 million euros for Ukraine, part of which is planned to be directed towards initiatives related to veterans’ policy, medical technologies, rehabilitation and recovery.

They separately highlighted the role of the Minister of Finance and Economy of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Domański, whose support has helped move the project to the stage of practical implementation. The Polish side plans to complete the necessary formalities, secure funding and hold a tender already this year, and from next year to begin implementing “Oasis of Renewal”.

Ruslan Prykhodko thanked the Polish partners for their consistent support of Ukraine and their readiness to move from agreements to practical steps, and he particularly noted Michał Jaros’s openness to dialogue and constructive stance. The Chief of Staff of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Taras Hren, confirmed his continued readiness to help implement the agreements.

“We greatly value the support of our Polish partners. It is important for us that the ‘Oasis of Renewal’ project is moving forward not only as an idea, but as concrete joint work that is meant to deliver results for Ukrainian veterans. The ‘Oasis of Renewal’ project is not only about international cooperation, but above all about supporting people who, after defending Ukraine, need high-quality care, recovery and dignified support,” noted Deputy Minister Ruslan Prykhodko.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to speed up the finalisation of procedural issues and the preparation of the documents needed to launch the project. Such joint initiatives are intended to strengthen the system of support for male and female veterans, taking into account their needs for recovery and assistance.
