Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to defenders Orest Ivanevich and Nazar Duda

On Saturday, January 13, Lviv will say goodbye to servicemen Orest Ivanevich and Nazar Duda, who died at the hands of the Russian invaders while defending Ukraine. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The servicemen’s funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square.

Orest Ivanevich will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Nazar Duda will be buried in the village. Lisnevichi Pustomytivska OTG.

Biographical references of defenders

Orest Ivanevich (January 22, 1984-January 7, 2024). A native of Lviv.

Received secondary education at a local evening school.

Subsequently, he worked at the Lviv communal enterprise “Lvivavtodor”, and during the last period – in the construction sector in Poland and the Czech Republic.

He was an extremely agile and mobile person, loved active recreation and was fond of fishing. According to relatives, Orest Ivanevich “loved to learn about life.” Among others, he was distinguished by extraordinary kindness – he was always ready to help.

From the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, despite the lack of military experience, he volunteered for the defense of the Motherland in the ranks of the territorial defense. Defended the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state in Sumy region, Kharkiv region and Donetsk region as part of the 125th separate territorial defense brigade of the “West” regional administration of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

For personal courage and loyalty to the military oath, he was awarded the “War Veteran” badge and the “Honor and Glory” cross.

Orest Ivanevich is survived by his wife, son and brother with their family.

 

Nazar Duda (14.07.1978-04.01.2024). A native of Lviv.

Studied at Lyceum No. 15 of the Lviv City Council. Received vocational and technical education at the Higher Vocational School No. 20 of the city of Lviv.

After completing his studies, he was engaged in car repair. In his free time, he was fond of football, actively played in local teams. Nazar Duda was an exceptionally sociable person and had a large number of friends.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to protect the Motherland from the invaders. Performed combat missions to protect the territorial integrity and independence of the state in the eastern direction in the ranks of the 13th separate airborne assault battalion named after the Hero of Ukraine Colonel Taras Senyuk of the 95th separate airborne assault Polish brigade of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Nazar Duda is survived by his grandmother, parents, wife, 8-year-old son and his wife’s mother.
