In the village of Davydiv in Lviv district, a Second World War munition was discovered in a private yard during earthworks. The rescuers reported the incident.
A man came across a suspicious object while building a fence and immediately contacted the Rescue Service, without attempting to move it himself.
The community rescue officer, who arrived promptly at the scene, identified the find as a 76-millimetre artillery shell dating back to the Second World War. The dangerous object was lying just a few metres from a residential building.
That same day, sappers from the Lviv Mobile Rapid Response Rescue Centre of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine removed and destroyed the munition in accordance with established procedure.
Rescuers emphasise that old munitions remain dangerous even after decades. If you discover any suspicious objects, you should move away to a safe distance and immediately call the Rescue Service on 101, without touching or moving them.
