On Wednesday, 6 March, Lviv will say goodbye to soldier Oleh Dziub, who was killed by Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine.
Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.
The funeral ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, followed by a city farewell ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Rynok Square. The soldier will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.
The defender’s biographical information
Oleh Dziub (11.10.1969-23.02.2024) was a resident of Lviv.
He studied at the former secondary school №76 in Lviv (today – Vasyl Stus Lyceum of International Relations of Lviv City Council). He graduated from the Lviv Cooperative Vocational College of Economics and Law. He served in the military in the automotive troops.
He first worked in the printing industry and, more recently, in metalworking. He was fond of boxing and read a lot. According to his family, Oleh Dziub “was very sincere, reliable and responsible, he adored his family and was always ready to help.”
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, he stood up to defend the state from the invaders. After completing the training, he performed combat missions as part of the 57th separate motorised infantry brigade named after the Kosh Ataman Kostya Hordiyenko of the operational command “South” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Oleh Dziub is survived by his wife, two children, brothers and sister.
