Tomorrow Lviv will say goodbye to defender Roman Kropyvnytskyi

On Tuesday, April 9, Lviv will say goodbye to soldier Roman Kropyvnytskyi, who was killed by Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine.

Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

In the morning, at 09:30, a prayer and farewell to the soldier will be held in the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Sykhiv.

The funeral rite will begin at 11:00 in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square.

The defender will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.

The defender’s biographical information

Roman Kropyvnytskyi (13.02.1982 – 01.04.2024) was a resident of Lviv. He studied at the secondary school №96 of the MZhK-1.

He graduated from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and Lviv State University of Internal Affairs with a degree in law.

In 2004-2005 he served in the military unit A3478 of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

From 2007 to 2013, he worked as a forensic expert in the sector of research on cold weapons, trace, fingerprint and firearms research at the Forensic Research Department at the Research Forensic Center at the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine at the Lviv Railway.

Captain of the police. He was awarded the badge “For Distinction in Service” of the second degree.

In 2019, he worked as a security guard at Auchan Ukraine Hypermarket Limited Liability Company.

With the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, he voluntarily joined the 65th separate mechanized brigade of the operational command “West” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend his homeland. He performed combat missions in Zaporizhzhia region.

According to his family, Roman was intelligent, purposeful, hardworking, persistent, honest, fair, courageous and always there to help or help out at the right time.

Roman Kropyvnytskyi is survived by his wife, parents, sister and niece.
