On Saturday, August 5, Lviv will say goodbye to four servicemen. Roman Miskiv, Mykhailo Kovalskyi, Volodymyr Lashin, Hleb Voyevutko defended Ukraine from the Russian invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.
The funeral service of the military will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square.
The soldiers will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.
Biographical references of defenders
Roman Miskiv (November 10, 1989-August 1, 2023) from Lviv.
He studied at the former secondary comprehensive school No. 59 of the city of Lviv. He was educated at the Faculty of History of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
In peacetime, he worked as a woodworking specialist at Fakro Lviv Limited Liability Company.
He was actively involved in sports, was fond of cycling and music.
Since May 2023, he served in the military as part of the 8th separate mountain assault battalion of the 10th separate mountain assault brigade “Edelweiss” of the operational command “West” of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Roman Miskiv is survived by his parents, brother and bride, nephews and godchildren.
Mykhailo Kovalskyi (29.08.1989-02.08.2023) Born in Blagodarivka, Mykolaiv region. Later, the family moved to Lviv.
He lost his father at an early age, and later his mother. He studied at the communal institution of the Lviv regional council “Chervonograd boarding school”. He graduated from the State Educational Institution “Lviv Higher Vocational Polytechnic School”, acquired the profession of “car repair mechanic”.
In peacetime, he worked in Odesa region in one of the local recreation complexes.
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to protect the Motherland from the invaders. Performed combat missions in the ranks of the 80th separate airborne assault brigade of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Mykhailo Kovalsky is survived by a brother and three sisters with their families.
Hleb Voyevutko (20.06.2001-11.11.2022) Born in the city of Mariupol, Donetsk region.
Studied at the Communal Institution “Mariupol Secondary School of Grades I-III No. 67 of the Mariupol City Council of the Donetsk Region”. He graduated from the Mariupol Electromechanical Vocational College, majoring in “Installation and maintenance of electrical machines and devices”. He also studied at the Kharkiv National University of Urban Economy.
After completing his studies, he worked abroad for a certain period. In his free time, he was fond of electromechanics.
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he voluntarily signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After completing the training, he defended the territorial integrity and independence of the state in the ranks of the 22nd Separate Motorized Infantry Battalion of the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Chief of Staff Ivan Sirk of the Operational Command “East” of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Gleb Voyevutka is survived by his parents.
Volodymyr Lashin (13.05.1983-01.08.2023) native of Lviv.
He studied at Secondary Secondary School No. 84 named after Blessed Yosafata Gordashevska. He received his education at the Ivan Boberskyi Lviv State University of Physical Culture.
After completing his studies, he served in the National Guard in Kharkiv.
At first he worked in the Private Enterprise “Advertising Agency “Press-Time”, and later engaged in private entrepreneurship. During the last period, he worked at the limited liability company “Technovagy Scientific and Production Enterprise”. In his spare time, he was fond of fishing, and was a candidate for master of sports in archery.
With the beginning of a full-scale invasion, he joined the ranks of the territorial defense in defense of the Motherland. He fought against invaders in the eastern direction as part of the 125th separate territorial defense brigade of the “West” regional administration of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Volodymyr Lashin is survived by his parents, wife, two sons and a sister.
