Tomorrow Lviv will say goodbye to five Ukrainian defenders

On Saturday, April 13, Lviv will say goodbye to five soldiers. Yuriy Lypka, Andriy Sorokin, Yuriy Rastryopin, Taras Kronstal, and Nazar Getz defended Ukraine from Russian invaders.

Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremonies and refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service for Yuriy Rastrypin will begin at 08:00 in St. Volodymyr’s Church in Ivano-Frankivsk.

The funeral rites for Yuriy Rastryopin, Yuriy Lipka, and Andriy Sorokin will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square.

The funeral service for Taras Kronshtal will begin at 12:30 in the Church of the Ascension (81a Shyroka St.).

The funeral service for Taras Kronshtal and Nazar Getz will begin at 14:00 in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, at 14:30 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square.

Soldiers Yuriy Lypka, Yuriy Rastryopin, Taras Kronshtal and Nazar Getz will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery, and soldier Andriy Sorokin will be buried at Holoskiv Cemetery.

Biographical information about the defenders

Yuriy Lypka (“Popeye”) (16.03.1972-04.04.2024) Lviv resident.

He studied at a local secondary school and later received vocational education. After graduation, he served in the military.

He worked in the construction industry in Greece for over 18 years. He was fond of fishing. In 2012, he returned to his homeland.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he volunteered to defend the state from the occupiers. He performed combat missions to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine as part of the 66th separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Mstyslav the Brave of the Reserve Corps of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During the last period, he fought against the invaders in the eastern direction in the ranks of the 60th separate mechanized Ingulets brigade.

Yuriy Lypka is survived by his wife, daughter and grandchildren.

Yurii Rastriopin (21.01.1998-09.04.2024) A resident of Lviv.

He graduated with honors from the Lviv Secondary School-Gymnasium (now the Lviv Lyceum of the Lviv City Council). From the age of five, he was fond of chess and was a candidate for Master of Sports of Ukraine. He was also engaged in painting.

He graduated from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv with a degree in international economics.

After graduation, he worked at the Lviv branch of Philip Morris Ukraine, and later at the Starlife insurance company. According to his family, Yuriy Rastriopin was “an exceptionally kind, cheerful and intelligent person who never refused to help.”

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the state from the invaders. He defended the independence and sovereignty of Ukraine in Sumy and Donetsk regions as a member of the military unit A4026.

Yuriy Rastrepin is survived by his parents and godmother.

Andrii Sorokin (22.12.1971-10.04.2024) A resident of Lviv.

He studied at the secondary school №20. In 1989-1993, he studied at the Kamianets-Podilskyi Higher Military Engineering Command School. After graduation, he served in Drohobych in the ranks of the 12th separate emergency rescue detachment of rapid response.

He was a career military man. In 2014-2015, he performed combat missions in the area of the anti-terrorist operation as part of the 703rd separate Vinnytsia Regiment of Operational Support.

He was an extremely sociable person, he adored his family. He loved to make things with his hands, led an active lifestyle: he was a candidate for Master of Sports of Ukraine in fencing and Master of Sports of Ukraine in swimming.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he voluntarily came to the defense of his homeland. While performing a combat mission in the Avdiivka sector, he was seriously wounded.

Andriy Sorokin is survived by his mother, wife and 19-year-old daughter.

 

Taras Kronshtal (“Bronstal”) (02.05.1980-08.04.2024) A native of the village of Chulovychi, Lviv region.

He studied at the general secondary education institution of I – III levels in the village of Zapytiv. He graduated from the Vocational School №12 (today – State Educational Institution “Lviv Higher Vocational Art School”), specializing in bricklaying.

In peacetime, he held the position of master of repair and construction works at ALP Repair and Construction Company, a limited liability company. In his spare time, he was fond of numismatics.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to defend his homeland from the invaders. He defended the state in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions in the ranks of the 68th separate hunting brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush of the operational command “West” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Taras Kronshtal is survived by his mother, wife and two daughters.

 

Nazar Hetz (06.02.1982-09.04.2024) A resident of Lviv.

He studied at the secondary school №95. He received his education at the State Vocational and Technical Educational Institution “Lviv Vocational Polytechnic Lyceum” (then Vocational School No. 33 of Lviv).

After graduation, he served his military service in Sambir in the ranks of the border guard troops. For two years, he worked at the Lviv Electric Lamp Plant Iskra, and most recently held the position of Deputy Head of the Finished Goods Warehouse at RosanPack.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he joined the military unit A4026 to defend his homeland from the occupiers. At first, he defended the state in Sumy region, and recently – in Donetsk region.

Nazar Hets is survived by his grandmother, father, wife, two daughters, brother and godchildren.
