Tomorrow Lviv will say goodbye to two defenders

Tomorrow, on 3 September, Lviv will say goodbye to two soldiers. Taras Morskyi and Andrii Kubai defended Ukraine from Russian invaders.

Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral ceremony for the defenders Taras Morskyi and Andrii Kubai will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square.

Andriy Kubay will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.

After the farewell at the Town Hall, Taras Morsky will be taken to his native village of Shchyrets, where a farewell will be held at the family home and a service will be held at the Church of the Holy Trinity. The defender will be buried at the local cemetery.

Taras Morskyi (19.02.1984 – 27.08.2024) was born in the village of Shchyrets, Lviv region.

He studied at the Shchyrets Lyceum named after the Hero of Ukraine Bohdan Ilkiv of the Shchyrets Village Council, Lviv District, Lviv Region. He received his professional education as an assistant locomotive driver at the Higher Vocational School №52 in Lviv (now – State Educational Institution “Lviv Interregional Higher Vocational School of Railway Transport”).

He served in the 25th Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In peacetime, he worked as a construction consultant and a master tiler.

According to his family, Taras loved football and table tennis, where he was a great success. Together with the football team “Halychyna” Shchyrets became a winner and medallist in both district and regional competitions.

During the full-scale invasion, he defended Ukraine in the ranks of the 103rd separate brigade of the Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Territorial Defence Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He performed combat missions in Kharkiv and Sumy regions.

Taras Morskyi is survived by his wife, son, parents and brother.

In his early childhood, the family moved to Drohobych, Lviv region, where he spent his childhood and youth.

He studied at Ivan Franko Lyceum No. 1 in Drohobych. He received his higher education at Ivan Franko Drohobych State Pedagogical University and was a member of the Club of the Funny and Clever.

Since childhood, he has been playing basketball, and he has kept his love for it in his adult life.

For a long time, he worked as a Team lead at Soft serve.

According to his family, friends and colleagues, Andrii was a man who would always come to the rescue, never let you down, and always help you in a difficult moment. He loved life above all else, was the life of the party, cheerful and sociable, a loving husband and father.

During the full-scale invasion, he defended the state as a member of the 81st separate airmobile Slobozhanska brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He performed combat missions in the Luhansk region.

Andrii Kubai is survived by his wife, son, daughter, parents and sister.
