
Tomorrow, the city will pay its last respects to the soldiers who died for the freedom of their homeland
On Thursday, 27 February, Lviv residents will say goodbye to soldiers Valentyn Voloshyn and Andriy Chernov, who died defending Ukraine from Russian aggression. The city authorities invite residents to join the farewell ceremony and ask them to refrain from holding any entertainment events during this time.
The farewell ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. After the service, at approximately 11:30 a.m., a citywide ceremony of paying last respects to the fallen soldiers will take place on Rynok Square. The defenders will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.
Valentyn Voloshyn (09.01.1972-07.02.2025)

A native of Lviv, he studied at secondary school No. 77 with in-depth study of economics and management, and later graduated from vocational school No. 21 (now Lviv Higher Vocational Polytechnic School).
In 1990-1992, he did his military service. He had a special passion for photography, which grew into a professional activity and became his life’s work.
With the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, he stood up to defend Ukraine in the ranks of the 7th Carpathian Border Detachment of the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Valentyn is survived by his mother, son and numerous friends.
Andrii Chernov (26.07.1996-20.02.2025)

Born in Rodynske, Donetsk region. He studied at Rodynske Gymnasium No. 35, after which he graduated from Yasynuvata Vocational School.
He worked in the construction industry and had exceptional skills in craftsmanship and design.
After the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Andriy’s family was forced to leave their home and move to Lviv. Andrii himself joined the 151st Separate Mechanised Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After completing his training, he performed combat missions in Donetsk and Kharkiv regions.
Andrii is survived by his parents, two sisters and four nephews.
