
On Friday, October 3, Lviv will bid farewell to the defender of Ukraine, Roman Holodniak, who gave his life in the struggle against Russian invaders. The city authorities urge residents to join the farewell ceremony and to avoid entertainment events.
The funeral service for the warrior will begin at 2:00 PM at the Garrison Church of Saints Peter and Paul. Afterwards, approximately at 2:30 PM, a citywide farewell ceremony will take place at Rynok Square. The defender will be buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery.
Roman Holodniak was born in the village of Korosno in the Lviv district and studied at local educational institutions. He earned a profession as a carpenter-parquet installer and graduated from the Deacon-Choir Director Institute. He faithfully served God as a choir director in several churches.
In 2024, he took up the defense of the Homeland against Russian aggression, defending territorial integrity in the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk directions as part of the Ukrainian armed forces. His comrades gave him the call sign ‘Holy’ for his deep faith. He is survived by his wife and two children.
