On 5 February, Lviv will say goodbye to soldiers Ihor Blahyi, Vitaliy Nasedkin and Mykhailo Klymchuk
On Wednesday, 5 February, Lviv will say goodbye to soldiers Ihor Blahyi, Vitaliy Nasedkin and Mykhailo Klymchuk, who gave their lives defending Ukraine from Russian occupiers. The mayor’s office calls on residents and visitors to join the city’s ceremony of farewell to the soldiers and refrain from entertainment and celebrations during this time.
In the morning, at 09:30, a prayer and farewell to Mykhailo Klymchuk will be held at the Church of the Ascension (81 Shyroka Street).
The funeral service for Mykhailo Klymchuk, Ihor Blahyi and Vitaliy Nasedkin will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul. Peter and Paul. Afterwards, at approximately 11:30 a.m., a citywide farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square.
The fallen soldiers will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.
Biographical information about the defenders
Vitalii Nasedkin (09.07.1983-17.04.2022) was born in the village of Novyi Yarychiv, Lviv region.
He studied at a local general secondary education institution of I-III levels. He completed his vocational education in Lviv.
Throughout his life, he worked in the construction industry. In his spare time, he was fond of fishing and travelled extensively with his family.
From the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to defend his homeland from Russian invaders. He performed combat missions in Donetsk and Luhansk regions in the ranks of the 24th separate mechanised brigade named after King Danylo of the operational command “West” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Vitaliy Nasedkin is survived by his parents, wife, two children and sister.
Ihor Blahyi (27.09.1967-17.04.2024) was born in the village of Marynka, Lviv region.
He studied at the Volodymyrtsia communal institution of general secondary education of I-II levels, and later received a degree in electrician in Stryi. After graduation, he was a member of the contingent that took part in combat operations in Afghanistan.
He worked in the construction industry in Lviv and abroad. He liked to spend his free time reading and doing crossword puzzles. According to his family, Ihor was a man of incredible energy, had golden hands and always found a way out of any situation. He knew how to enjoy life, find a common language with anyone, help and support.
After the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he did not hesitate to join the 33rd separate mechanised brigade of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend his homeland from the invaders. He performed tasks to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine in Sumy and Donetsk regions.
Ihor Blahyi is survived by his mother, wife, three daughters, grandchildren, brothers and sisters.
Mykhailo Klymchuk (15.10.1979-31.01.2025) was born in the village of Lopatyn, Lviv region.
He studied at the Lopatyn Lyceum of the Lopatyn Village Council, Lviv Oblast. He received vocational education at the Higher Vocational School №20 in Lviv.
He is a career military officer. After returning from the army, he signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. From 2015, he performed combat missions in the Anti-Terrorist Operation/Joint Forces Operation area.
According to his family, Mykhailo was an exceptionally good father and husband. His main passion was his family, he lived for them. Above all, he adored his little daughter.
He met the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion on the frontline. He defended the independence and sovereignty of the state in the ranks of the 24th separate mechanised brigade named after King Danylo of the operational command “West” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was awarded numerous decorations for his conscientious service.
Mykhailo Klymchuk is survived by his mother, wife, 6-year-old daughter and two brothers.
