Lviv to bid farewell to fallen defender Mykola Tuz on September 24

On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, Lviv will pay its final respects to Mykola Tuz, a soldier who died defending Ukraine from Russian occupation forces. The city council urges residents and visitors to join the farewell ceremony and refrain from holding entertainment or festive events during this time.

Farewell Schedule:

  • 11:00 — Funeral service at the Garrison Church of Saints Peter and Paul.

  • 11:30 — Citywide farewell ceremony on Rynok Square.

  • After the ceremony, Mykola’s body will be taken to his family home in Kunyn village, where a local farewell and church service will take place at the Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

  • Burial will be held at the village cemetery.


Biography of the Hero

  • Mykola Tuz
    Born May 18, 1981 – Died September 18, 2025

  • Native of Kunyn, Lviv region.

  • Studied at the Kunyn Secondary School and later at the Lviv Vocational Railway Transport Lyceum.

  • Served his mandatory military duty.

  • Worked in the construction sector for private companies.

According to his family, Mykola was a kind, sincere, cheerful, and sociable man. He enjoyed fishing and football, had a great sense of humor, and was always smiling.

After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, he voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in:

  • The 60th Separate Mechanized Inhulets Brigade

  • The 67th Separate Mechanized Brigade

  • The 68th Separate Jaeger Brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush

He defended Ukraine on the Donetsk, Northern-Slobozhanskyi, and Kursk fronts.

Mykola received numerous military honors for his bravery.

He is survived by his wife, son, mother, and brother.
